Thursday, May 22nd over 320 attendees at the Genesys Conference & Banquet Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan honored almost sixty of the areas outstanding High School Senior Student Athletes including Jarrett Trombley of Lake Fenton and Lauryn Gibbs of Mt. Morris named the Flint Kiwanis Club's Student-Scholar Athletes of the Year. 

Also Recognized were the four 2017-18 Kiwanis Educational Foundation Scholarship Recipients  Justin Newberry Goodrich HS, Trevor Rosario Lake Fenton HS Batison Boyle Lake Fenton HS and Grace Hoffman Kearsley HS

Jarrett wrestled and played football for the Blue Devils.

He finished his wrestling career as a rare four-time state champion after never losing a match during his final three seasons. He won his first state title as a freshman at Corunna before winning the final three at Lake Fenton.

He posted a 59-0 record as a senior and finished his career with a 194-1 mark. Trombley, who was team captain for three seasons at Lake Fenton, holds the national record for career takedowns.

On the football field, he helped Lake Fenton win a pair of Genesee Area Conference Red Division championships and was first-team All-GAC as a senior.

He has a 4.0 grade-point average and his class load included AP calculus, psychics, honors biology and anatomy-physiology.

 has accepted a scholarship to wrestle at North Carolina, where he plans to major in biological medicine with a plan of becoming an orthopedic physician.

Lauryn played volleyball, tennis and ran track at Mt. Morris.

As a senior, she was a second-team All-American in volleyball, was a finalist for Miss Volleyball and made the All-GAC first team for the third straight year.

She carries a 3.79 GPA, scored 920 on the SAT and has been on the honor roll every semester. Her class load included AP calculus, advanced English and sports medicine.

Gibbs is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Lauryn plans to  attend Michigan State on a volleyball scholarship.

             Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Flint Michigan is dedicated to serving the local community through various service and fundraising projects. Our club has been in service to our community for more than century. We are part of Kiwanis International, an organization serving children for over 100 years.
